I’m sure there are those who wonder why I’m bible bashing and “tearing down the Kingdom,” as they say. But I would like to give a small example of what my issue is—that when you start to think and reason beyond blind faith, too many doctrines make no since. As a Christian I use to stand their looking strange because I would try and witness to people then run into intelligent thinkers who would point out verses that contradicted reality and proven facts. I was trying to get them saved but they were confusing me with my own bible. Example: the biblical account of the Serpent. According to the bible the serpent was the most cunning of all God’s creatures right? So we conclude this is the devil or Satan because actual snakes don’t reason or plot man’s demise. But then God cursed the Serpent to crawl on his belly and eat dust for all the days of its life. Is it accurate to say we associate that with natural serpents or snakes because snakes crawl? But as far as we know the bible doesn’t claim Satan is crawling around on his belly but is roaming to and fro in the earth seeking whom he may devour. So question: did God curse the devil or did he curse an actual snake? Or, did he curse the actual snake because the devil used the snake? Do natural snakes crawl because of this curse, and if so why blame an actual, soulless snake for what Satin did? Or should we imagine a Steven King horror flick that shows Satan in his lair crawling around on his belly sucking down a dirt sandwich while dispatching demons around the world to do his evil bidding. I could go on and on through the Old and New Testament but you get my point. From start to finish, too many doctrines just don’t make since. Therefore I no longer put blind faith in a man or book. I have returned to God, the creator of the universe, whom I knew when I was a child untainted by religious doctrine. I’ve returned to the God who made me notice the miracle of the sun and all creation. I’ve returned to God, who is the giver of life and the source of truth. He is powerful within my heart and apparently has no problem dealing with me. I believe I could be alone on an island with no Bibles, Korans or religious doctrine of any kind and God would still lead and communicate with my heart just fine. By His wisdom alone He taught the Eagle to fly high above storms. He taught sharks to hunt in the dark depths of the sea. By His power he caused fruit to grow from trees. He taught cheetahs to run, fish to swim, creatures to mate. He showed babies the way to exit the womb, He taught rivers to flow…hello, yall feel me? My heart goes out to people everywhere in the earth who God gave the breath of life. I pray for myself, and all people, that we see religion for what it truly is.
