Radio Interviews for your book promotion (1265 hits)

This morning while I prepared for an interview on Hello Detroit with Rev. Jim Holly, I thought of how important it was for me to know my target market prior to promoting my new book. I identified 2 primary target groups; 1 with over 650,000 potential customers another with 250,000 potential customers. When choosing the radio shows that I wanted to be a guest on, my target market guided my inquiries.

The wonderful thing about it, is that as I reach out to my target market, sub markets learn about my project which is a bonus. The key however is to measure my success as I promote my book and focus my attention on those areas.

By the way, my interview this morning sold 11 books before I could get off the air. I can't wait to check my in-box to see more fruit.

Who's your target market?

Tips for researching and contacting your target market.
1. Use the internet search box.
My primary target market is homeless shelters. I want my book to be used as a life skills tool to assist people in the shelter who are in transition. I also want to speak to encourage this same group with the message that "I can do it so can you." This means that I need to know how many shelters there were in the U.S.
2. I searched the U.S. government Census Bureau and then looked for articles that revealed how many homeless and homeless facilities there were.
3. I then looked for associations and national organizations that supported the state and city organizations. Once I compiled my master list, I planned a local marketing campaign to build my media kit to be presented in January to national organizations which I have researched and spent time getting to know the key leaders.
