Sweet as candy, full of grace
Can’t erase your smiling face;
When it hurts or when it’s broken,
Healing words you’ve always spoken;
Little food or out of money,
We never lacked ‘cause you were sweet as honey;
Woke up early to get ready for school,
‘Cause we knew you weren’t raising no fool;
Warning us to prevent a major crisis,
We benefitted from your sacrifices;
Two jobs, three jobs, or whatever it took,
You still made it home to hear us read our book;
Laying down - eyes filled with tears,
You worked so hard all of those years;
Love you; love you, dear sweet Mother,
Because of you – there is no other!
