I've got to give props to TV One's Cathy Hughes for not only spotlight its One-on- One segment with Queen Latifah, but doing her homework and asking "The Queen" questions I've NEVER heard asked. The hour-long interview included questions about why she walked away from her talk show and the show, "Living Single", (and if there is a reunion in the works) a crash course education in making radio and TV deals, her book, Ladies First (now out of print) and why she wrote it, the death of her brother, her not owning her original album masters, reaction to her portraying a "hoochie mama" in the film, "Bringing Down The House" with Steve Martin and Eugene Levy, her Oscar nomination for the film "Chicago", the actor auditioning process, rumors about her s*xuality in the film, "Set It Off", her partnership and business strategies for her company, The Flavor Unit, and so many other topics.
The Queen also disclosed the meaning of her name, words and music today, her latest album, her mother's influence on her, and what she still hopes to accomplish. I enjoyed this program and if it comes back on again: you need to catch it.
