BLASTED LEEVES!!
May 02, 2011
Cairo, IL
The Army Corps of Engineers blasted a large hole in an earthen levee along the Mississippi River on Monday, May 2nd, 2011. This was to keep or help in preventing a major flood on the town of Cairo, Illinois. Due to the heavy and recent downpours of rains the waters has made the Mississippi flow over with immense high rises of muddy waters. The blasting allowed an flood way give at least 4 feet of the high water to go downstream. Cairo has suffered heavily with most all of it's 2,831 residents already gone from the town. Farmers and landowners feared the floodwaters could damage their property and crops were overturned to intervene the blasting and caused the farmers much devastating their expensive and prominent crops works. The blasting was an aid to help save the town from desolation, however the river stages still are high.

"IN THE EYES OF THE MISSISSIPPI"
Memphs, Tennessee
May o6, 2011
No one truly expected to see the effect the Mississippi waters making its way to spread into Wolf River and the Nonconnah Creek. Now the waters are flowing backwards and rising into places like homes and over the banks. Flooding stages leaping with overflows has caused, factories to close and many of proprietors to shut up doors behind with waters up and over the roofs. The Army Corps are trying to out smart the river by shutting down the Tennessee River and closing all tributaries and dams that feed on the Mississippi.. River stages are continuously breaking the record of the 1937 stages. It was mentioned that the Corps change in the flooding wouldn't change the flooding downstream. "The water would all at some point come back to the river."
ON STAGE THREE...
NOW PLAYING....

IT'S A RIVER SCREAM!!!!!
Memphis, Tennesseee
05.06.2011
The Mississippi River stage as of this morning Friday, May 6, 2011 is set at 45.6 which just below flood stage. However, the river is steadily rising higher. Many Memphis spectators are getting a high glimpse of the rising river wading waters down by Tom Lee park. The record breaking muddy waters hasn't ever been this high since the 1930's flooding. With each day the river is flooding zip codes in at least 8 to 10 areas in Memphis communities. Low line areas have already felt the plague of the muddy Mississippi and evacuations of many residents have occurred locally. With the final crest predicted to happen on May 12th it is anticipated to be at 49 feet. Memphis is watching the rising waters with an open-minded view but are expecting much flooding to take place in fact of the hoping the river will subside. Some residents are staying until the last minute before they go
"Some may scream!...I should of left earlier!"
ON STAGE FOUR!!!
Preview... The threat is real..the others will feel it in the song of the muddy waters..and Memphis has a misery.
I PRELUDE TO A RIVER'S KISS
Memphis, Tennessee
05.06.2011
With the greater Memphis Area flowing rise on the riverbanks, the muddy river waters makes it way to over four states including those of Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri, and Mississippi. Vicksburg has reported the river the crest at 64.5 feet by May 17th. Wrapping all communities around it's boundaries and beyond. President Obama visited declared parts of Kentucky, Mississippi and Tennessee as disaster areas due the the flooding on Wednesday, May 4th. Destruction resulted in flooding 130,000 acres of Missouri farmland. In Mississippi the levee system is barely holding as its never been recorded as this high before. The great Mississippi flood of 1927 is no comparison to today's monster waters of a the muddy Miss! Reports indicated that major floods in Mississippi were in 1927, 1937, 1973, 1993 and in 2008. These past flooding caused 1,000 deaths and left over 600,000 homeless. In 2011 the damages to due is still a prelude.

"COOKERS vs. THE PREDITOR WATERS!"
BAR-B-Q CONTEST OR WATER CREST SANDWICHES!!!
Memphis, Tennessee
05.06.2011
The Memphis in May Festival is still on to take park at Tom Lee Park, but with those rising river banks the whole park may be dipped in muddy water instead of
bar-b-Q sauce! Since the river has little change of going down it's rising up where the function's location to take place. High intensity is awaiting the contest to be moved out and over to the Shelby Farms site. Locals are examining the possibility of moving the contest because flooding will inhibit the event altogether. So they are looking for the alternate location to conduct this well attended event. Sunny skies are around now, and the rains are passed over but the Old Man River is still stringing up the muddy waters. Cresting is waiting during the scheduled event will determine if they'll stay or go. Who knows will the cookers will have pack it all up move to Shelby Farms? The Mississippi stage will be a Big River Show.
