Last night the world watched the Dallas Mavericks overcome the Miami Heat to win their first championship. What made Dallas victory so astounding is the fact that they secured their final win at Miami. The Dallas team was underrated when compared to the explosive trio of James, Wade and Bosh. Dallas was the series underdog who took on and overcame the top seed Miami Heat becoming world champions in 2011.
The Dallas victory is a great picture for anyone that is struggling to overcome adversity to reach a victory. Watching the series between Dallas and Miami caused me to remember when I was facing adversities to reach a victory. I was close to the end of writing my novel. I wanted to have the draft finished before I moved back to Virginia. As I was comng to the closing pages my computer crashed. It was seven years old and beyond being repaired. My work stopped because I couldn't afford to purchase another computer.
I resumed work on the final pages of my novel after I moved to Virginia. I was within reach of the end of writing this novel that I spent years on. And the church computer crashed! i was within twenty pages of completing it. What a terrible and ironic expereince, two computers crashed in three months. At that point doubt and defeat said to me quit, give up, it's not meant to be. Doubt and defeat were the twins of adversity in my season of new beginnings. I was down 2-1 like Dallas was against Miami a week ago. But I found my resolve and I continued on. I purchased a computer and finished my novel. I've had many victories in my life but there is something greater about a victory that comes from overcoming adversities as I had.
And so I want to encourage you today to overcome your adversities because on the other side is your victory. Look beyond your trouble. See beyond your present circumstances. Push your way through what is trying to hold you back. You can do it! You can win if you don''t quit. When adversities keep on coming then you keep on going because on the other side is victory.
