This post is inspired by the many shootings and accounts of abuse that occur across our nation.
It is but by the grace of God that you or I have not snapped to the point of being responsible for creating a “relative tragedy”. We live with our own hidden tragedy's left unaddressed, lying dormant within our beings. We live among the tragedy of others business which is lying dormant in our community. And we live and worship with tragedy that is preached down to a dormant state of non-existence every Sunday. If not for God’s grace many of us could be the persons we are so freely calling psychopathic, monsters, demons, etc. Undeniably, the acts are horrific. Undeniably, we are in spiritual warfare. But… (my favorite conjunction in the Bible) …undeniably the same grace and mercy you and I claim and expect is the same grace and mercy that is available to those we are judging. Let us pray for those we have condemned. Praise God we haven’t publicly fallen. And let us petition Him to lead us to the help we need not to fall victim or be the accused in any situation.
Ephesians 2:3-5
New International Version (NIV)
3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a] and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions —it is by grace you have been saved.
