Abstract / Objectives of this Discussion:
Do you and your spouse really understand the profound principle of selflessness and the absolute necessity of its simple practice for the survival of our marriages? Can we even begin to imagine where the Nation would be if the Minister was not a completely selfless individual? Before marriage, our needs came first. Marriage was supposed to change it all. Once in the process of marriage, we were supposed to learn how to put each other’s needs above our wants. For many of us marriage has not been an easy shift because it takes a while to adjust to married life and a new way of thinking. So many marriages are stuck in selfishness and stupidity. If your marriage is struggling in 2015, or if you’re working to keep it strong, selflessness may be the key. Selflessness essentially means being able to meet your partner’s needs, even if you have to put aside your own desires. This is very difficult in marriage because “self” is constantly asking for more and more: What about my needs? What about my hurts? What about my time? In this particular show we intend to discuss some of the traits and attributes that make selflessness so hard. Included in this discussion:
* Finding it very difficult to compromise.
* Believe it all has to be about you in your marriage.
* Not liking to give or share.
* Realizing that forgiving your spouse is more difficult for you than you imagined it would be
* Feeling as though you are competing with your spouse.
* Thinking you are better than your spouse.
* Only caring about yourself.
Are we too selfish to be selfless? We will share with you how you should both learn to put the each other’s needs above your wants. Sacrificial love challenges us to give to our spouse in uncomfortable or unreasonable ways — ways that cost us emotion, time and pride. No marriage is perfect, but every marriage (and relationship) can be made better by developing just one characteristic, selflessness. If you implement the very prudent and sensible ideas that we will share with you on this show, you will quickly see, by the grace of God, how much your marriage improves!

(9) Why put myself out when my spouse is acting like a jerk?
(10) What's the difference between selflessness and passively letting my spouse get his or her way? How can I love my spouse more when I feel as though I'm giving so much already?
