Secretary Scalia ADA30 Op-Ed
U.S. Secretary of Labor Eugene Scalia published an op-ed on the LNP/LancasterOnline.com on "Examining the legacy and future of the Americans with Disabilities Act."(https://lancasteronline.com/). In the article, Secretary Scalia discusses the changes that have occurred in the nation since the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law 30 years ago, including in employment for people with disabilities. He tells the story of Tom Fasnacht, a former field foreman on commercial construction projects, who transitioned to a job as an instructor in a trade organization's apprenticeship program with the support of reasonable accommodations after the onset of his disability. "Because of the ADA, millions of Americans like Fasnacht can bring their skills to the workforce and share in the dignity of work," said Secretary Scalia. "And this brings all of us closer to America's founding promise—a nation where the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is available to all."
