Take Up Your Battle Axe & Inkhorn (1724 hits)

God shared this word with me today. It blessed me beyond measure. I am briefly posting part of it here to cause you to search the word and go deeper in understanding who you are as a scribe to the King.

2 And suddenly six men came from the direction of the upper gate, which faces north, each with his battle-axe in his hand. One man among them was clothed with linen and had a writer's inkhorn at his side. They went in and stood beside the bronze altar.

3 Now the glory of the God of Israel had gone up from the cherub, where it had been, to the threshold of the temple. [a] And He called to the man clothed with linen, who had the writer's inkhorn at his side; 4 and the LORD said to him, "Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it."

5 To the others He said in my hearing, "Go after him through the city and kill; do not let your eye spare, nor have any pity.

6 Utterly slay old and young men, maidens and little children and women; but do not come near anyone on whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary." So they began with the elders who were before the temple.

7 Then He said to them, "Defile the temple, and fill the courts with the slain. Go out!" And they went out and killed in the city.

8 So it was, that while they were killing them, I was left alone; and I fell on my face and cried out, and said, "Ah, Lord GOD! Will You destroy all the remnant of Israel in pouring out Your fury on Jerusalem?"
9 Then He said to me, "The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of bloodshed, and the city full of perversity; for they say, `The LORD has forsaken the land, and the LORD does not see!'

10 And as for Me also, My eye will neither spare, nor will I have pity, but I will recompense their deeds on their own head."

11 Just then, the man clothed with linen, who had the inkhorn at his side, reported back and said, "I have done as You commanded me."

There are many believers walking under the scribal anointing (the prophetic call to write) around you. It is our job (those who have an in-depth understanding of what the scribal ministry is all about through the scriptures) to do more than just share our writing with others, but to activate the ministry or pull out the ministry of the scribe in the lives of others.

There are many scribes who do not know why the Lord called their souls from heaven to earth. They write and they write and they write ... yet there messages lie hidden in notebooks, journals and scraps of paper between books. Their dreams of being published have yet to be fulfilled. They hold the meditations revealed to them in their hearts and run with them in their dreams.

Those of us who've taken this first step, must now stand with them to assist in the book-birthing process. We must water these seeds not only with instruction, but with prayer and mentoring to nurture and water the vision until it comes to pass.

In this passage of scripture we can see that the body is in trouble! The Lord called forth six men - one was a scribe clothed in linen. Linen is known as a priestly fabric - which indicates that this scribe Ezekiel saw belonged to the royal priesthood and was in service to the Lord. The scribe had an inkwell on his side and his weapon was a stylus or ink pen. In this instance, the Lord had called him forward - to the front line - as a soldier in the midst of a war -- with his pen as the weapon of choice.

Is your pen a voice for the Lord? Is it a weapon against the adversary? Are you prepared for war?

Clearly, this scribe had an intimate relationship with God and walked in obedience. In addition, he came with HASTE ... he came QUICKLY. This scribe was given a single command by the LORD as we follow this passage of scripture. He said to him: "Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it."

He told the scribe to go through the city - no pit stops - through the midst of Jerusalem.... and THEN to put a mark on the foreheads of men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done in His sanctuary and in the lives of His people. In other words, He sent this scribe out to identify the righteous and to expose those who had outright rejected him and turned away from the faith.

As this vision comes to a close, we see that the scribe comes back to the Lord with the following report: "I have done as You commanded me."

Can you say that you have done what the Lord has commanded of you with your warring weapon -- your inkhorn/inkwell? Are you in the midst of answering this very unique call?

No longer are we on milk, but meat. The gospel message is a serious one as we are ambassadors of Jesus Christ who are being used to petition men on God's behalf. If he gave you the gift, shouldn't it be used His way and for His purposes?
